Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 5: A New Challenger in the Wearable Technology Market
The Chinese wearable brand Mobvoi is gearing up to release its latest smartwatch, the TicWatch Pro 5, which aims to compete with the Pixel Watch and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch in the Wear OS market. Recently leaked information, including a listing on Amazon.ca, reveals a range of impressive features that make the TicWatch Pro 5 an exciting upcoming release.
The TicWatch Pro 5 is expected to sport a 1.43-inch OLED round display with an additional dynamic and colorful FSTN layer. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass with oleophobic properties. The watch is MIL-STD-810H military-grade tested for endurance and offers 5ATM water resistance. It is relatively chunky, measuring 50.15 × 48 × 12.2mm and weighing 44.3 grams.
Inside, the TicWatch Pro 5 is likely to house the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 platform with Wear OS 3. It will feature a variety of trackers for heart rate, SpO2, sleep, stress, and VO2 Max measurement. The watch’s display will illuminate in six different colors based on the user’s current heart rate.
The smartwatch is said to run for 80 hours in smart mode and 45 days in essential mode, thanks to its 611mAh battery. A magnetic pogo-pin-based adapter claims to fast charge 65% of the battery in just 30 minutes. Additional features include Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi, NFC (with Google Pay support), a microphone, and a speaker.
The TicWatch Pro 5 will come with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of local storage, providing a significant upgrade from the Pro 3. Its biometrics and athletic performance tracking capabilities include round-the-clock heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and VO2 Max charting, along with respiratory, SpO2, stress, and other stats.
Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 5 is poised to reinvigorate competition in the Wear OS market, providing a strong alternative to the Pixel Watch and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch.
